🚨 Today is a Day of Awareness! 💙November 14th marks World Diabetes Day. 🔵The lack of proper management of type 2 diabetes can lead to serious health consequences affecting a person's daily life and work. Two out of every three diabetics are diagnosed with hypertension, which increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, vision loss, nerve damage, and kidney disease. In Guatemala, Mayan indigenous populations are disproportionately affected due to a lack of access to healthy foods, medical treatment, and equipment to monitor blood sugar and hypertension.Salud y Paz is committed to promoting good health habits and educating patients on how to manage chronic diseases like diabetes. Our work provides consistent support, essential medications and checkups to patients diagnosed at our clinic or during mission weeks. Almost half of the patients who come to our clinic and up to 15% of patients seen by mission teams live with a chronic illness. This work is not possible without you! This Giving Tuesday (Dec 3rd) we are raising funds so we can be a reliable partner for our patients. Be part of this work by helping us reach our $40,000 goal.Donate -> projectsaludypaz.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MjE2ODQx#WorldDiabetesDay #14November #GivingTuesday #DiabetesAwareness
